The Inaugural Visit to the Snack Bar

One of the biggest milestones in the transition from Year 2 to Year 3 is getting to use the Primary Snack Bar. It’s something that our Year 3 students have been excited about since their first day of school! However, there was lots to learn before they were ready for this. We invited Year 4 students to talk to them about what it’s like and share their top tips. They visited the Snack Bar and wrote instructions for how to use it. In Mathematics, the Year 3s were challenged to manage a weekly budget and plan their spending. The final, and perhaps most important step, was a series of scenarios that we used to problem solve in our PSHE sessions in order to ensure that all students were equipped with the tools to manage any difficulties that may arise when using the Snack Bar.

After weeks of preparation, the excitement on Monday morning was palpable. Cheers rang out as cards were handed out and the students proudly lined up to set off on their inaugural visit to the Primary Snack Bar. It was wonderful to see the manner in which the students interacted with the staff at the snack bar, smiling and saying thank you. It was a great day for all!
