Creating Solar Lights

Year 4 came back from breaktime to a hot, dark building. What had happened? They quickly realised just how much we all rely on electricity for even the simplest of activities. This began the start of a fascinating learning journey as we developed our scientific skills building and testing different electrical circuits. As global citizens, the students also began to discuss some of the impacts of electricity consumption: both positive and negative. The day ended by constructing solar lights, supplied by the charity Solar Buddy. These will now be sent to villages in Northern Thailand that currently lack a reliable electricity source. A documentary filmmaker captured the process and we eagerly anticipate the results.
