Puppetry and Mask Theatre in Year 7

Drama class for the Year 7s has transcended geographical boundaries and taken the students across the oceans to Indonesia! The students are learning about South East Asian puppetry and mask theatre traditions, using the epic story of Ramayana and Balinese theatre as a focus.  Armed with the knowledge of Wayang Kulit (a traditional Indonesian shadow puppet play) and Topeng (a Balinese masked dance or drama), the students had a chance to make puppets and masks and were also challenged to produce a piece of drama. More than just having fun, it seems the students really do have Taksu (the ability to hold your audience, to be magnetic and enchanting on stage)!
