Student safeguarding and safe recruitment

As part of the recruitment process applicants must provide:

  • The name and contact details of three referees. One referee should be the applicant's current or most recent employer. In addition to the written references, referees may be contacted to obtain a verbal reference.
  • An up-to-date DBS Disclosure if from UK or police check.
  • Documentation from universities and colleges verifying attendance and successful completion of courses undertaken.
  • An up-to-date medical.


Bangkok Patana School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced Careers and University Counsellor/Advisor. It is expected that the successful candidate has considerable experience in supporting students applying to universities in across the world North. Prior knowledge of advising about the application process to UK and USA is essential.

The Extra-Curricular Programme is considered a vital and integral component in the education of our student community. Therefore, applications are particularly welcome from teachers with experience, passion and talent in the areas of visual and performing arts, community service, debate, outward-bound activities and sports.

Careers at Patana

The appointee will be joining a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated team of four experienced counsellors. Responsibilities are currently divided with one counsellor focussing on the Key Stage 3 & 4 careers programme, one co-ordinating work experience and all of us guiding an identified group of students through all aspects of the university application process. The appointee will have strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and will be able to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student body. The Careers Faculty is well-resourced and supportive of professional development and actively encourages team members to attend University Events and Workshops around the world.

Role & Position in the Organisation

To support the Head of Careers in all aspects of Careers Education and the university application process in order to ensure students are well informed and prepared for the next stage of their education and future careers thereby fulfilling their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

- to guide an identified group of students through the university application process;
- to develop opportunities for students to experience the world of work as part of their Careers Education programme;
- to develop and deliver specific aspects the Y9 - Y13 Careers Education programme;
- to support the effective and appropriate administration and delivery of the USA PSAT and SAT;
- to provide quality individual counselling of students to assist them in the decision making process related to the next     stage of his/her education/career.
